DEEP PURPLE Drummer To Perform With Italian Guitarist MATT FILIPPINI
January 4, 2007DEEP PURPLE drummer Ian Paice will join Italian guitarist Matt Filippini for five dates in Italy and Spain during January/February. Performing with Paice and Filippini will be singer Roberto Tiranti from LABYRINTH and Alessandro Del Vecchio from EDGE OF FOREVER. According to Matt, "These shows are going to be a sort of jam session including several PURPLE hits and a selection of classic rock songs from HENDRIX, FREE, BAD COMPANY, WHITESNAKE and more." The details are as follows:
Jan. 24 - Thunder Road, Codevilla (PV) Italy
Jan. 26 - Sala Heineken, Madrid, Spain
Jan. 27 - Bikini Club, Barcellona, Spain
Feb. 14 - New Age, Roncade (TV) Italy
Feb. 15 - Velvet Rock Club, Giais Aviano (PN) Italy
Matt will also perform with his MOONSTONE PROJECT as the support act for HOUSE OF LORDS on the latter band's Italian tour in February. The dates are as follows:
Feb. 22 - Seven 70, Seregno (MI) Italy
Feb. 23 - Il Peocio, Trofarello (TO) Italy
Feb. 24 - Metarock, Cascina (PI) Italy
In other news, Filippini is putting together a bunch of Italian MOONSTONE PROJECT shows in May 2007, featuring Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) as special guest. Matt is also working on the second MOONSTONE PROJECT album, for which he has already recorded six songs. The CD will feature some special guests but will apparently be more a "band album."
Commented Matt: "It's gonna to be a 'live sounding' album. I'm thinking to have only one singer on it. The new songs are really grooving and breathing; old good dirty bluesy hard rock as I love to do."
